The Luck Is Changing?
Woohoo! We got the cat! It' ours! The other folks did not show up. Hmph for putting a hold on it so we couldn't have it on Saturday. Grrrrr.
So to adopt a cat there's a form you have to fill out. The form asks some odd questions:
"Describe a normal day of your new cat."
Ugh. It's a CAT. Go to daycare at 8 AM. Pick it back up at 5 PM. Dinner is at 7 PM and bedtime at 10? So I put down "Eat, sleep, play." I think that is pretty accurate.
Next one:
"Did you spend enough time with the cat to get to know it's personality?"
Ugh. Cats have personality, yes, but not so much about kitties. They are playful... that's about it. And it's like having a kid. You hope for the best...
The last time I adopted cats was over 10 years ago. Frankly, I'm a little bit nervout this time. It's another 18-20 years of responsibilities.
Adopting a cat in my 20's is definitely very different from adopting in my 30's. Much like anything else -- choosing a partner, having kids, etc. -- any decisions made in the 20's are mostly impulsive. When I picked out this cat that I have right now, we (me and my boyfriend at the time) pretty much just went to the shelter, and picked the cutest they have, that day. There's no serious consideration, no comparison... and the other one that I adopted was pretty much the same story. Although I do I did tell myself that if I take them home, I'll forever be responsible for them. I've moved 8-9 times since I had this cat, and every time the first thing I asked a rental place was, "Do you accept pets/cats?"
